Find the Fresh Fire Again
Have you ever gone to a campsite after the campers have gone home and looked into the fire pit? To me as I look into ashes I see all the planning and excitement of what once was but now is gone just like the wood! You see turning this to the spiritual God's Altar had a fire that was never supposed to go out:
*Leviticus 6:9,12-13 (KJV) Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it. [12] And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. [13] The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.
God started this fire and it reminds of His presence and power in our lives moment by moment from the wandering in the wilderness to the Day of Pentecost! But we the priests of God have either let the fire go out or offered strange fire. So tonight we are going to pray the prayer out of Isaiah and expect the Lord to stoke His fire:
*Text: Isaiah 64:1-4 (KJV) Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, [2] As when the MELTING FIRE burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! [3] When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence. [4] For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
