“Considering Christ’s CROSS”!

Text: *Psalms 69:1-5 & 1 Cor. 1:18 – see V.5 – personal confession is powerful taking us from guiltiness to forgiveness! see V18 – 2 SIDES OF THE CROSS: “FOLLY” [foolishness] or “FORCE”!

                              #1 Deliver us from the WORLD

*Read Gal. 1:1-4 – note V.4 Jesus came to DELIVER us from this present evil WORLD! (John 17:15-16 & 1 John 2:17)

                              #2 Deliver us from the LAW  

*Read Gal. 2:16-19 – note V.16 JUSTIFIED by the faith of Christ! See Rom. 7:8-11 – law = death!

                           #3 Deliver us from Self (SOUL)

  *Read Gal. 2:20-21 – note Christians are CRUCIFIED with Christ and live by His faith! See Matt. 16:24-25.

       #4 Deliver us from FLESH (REBEL NATURE)

  *Read Gal. 5:24 – note “CRUCIFIED” 1^st the flesh then the “EMOTIONS” = outside influence and “LUSTS” = a longing for what    is forbidden! See Luke 3:16-17 only by Jesus the Word to the root!

#5 Deliver us from PRIDE (Original Sin)

  *Read Gal. 6:12-16 – note “PRIDE” 1^st sin was by Lucifer see Isa. 14:12-18. Note closing illustration “PRIDE”: Ted Turner said: “If only I had a little humility, I’d be perfect!” *** SURVEY: 1950’s High School Graduates versus 90’s on their personal importance – 12% to 80% increase of “PRIDE”!

From Death to Life

An old preacher was once heard preaching on a village green in England. He had lived on the American prairies, and his illustrat ions had a powerful fascination for my boyish ears. He told of a prairie fire and he described the way the Indians saved their wigwams from the blaze by setting fire to the dry grass immediately adjoining the settlement. "The fire cannot come," he cried, "where the fire has already been. That is why I call you to the Cross. Judgment has already fallen there and can never come again. He who takes his stand at the cross is safe evermore. He can never come into condemnation; he is passed from death unto life. He is at perfect peace in God's safety zone.
