Eyes Off Self and On Savior
CD 1531 Eyes Off Self and On Savior - Sunday Night the 26 P.M. service
With all the chaos in the world and yes in the lives of Christians Donna and I were discussing about the importance of putting the Lord first by seeking Him early:
*Psalms 63:1 (KJV) O God, thou art my God; EARLY WILL I SEEK THEE: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
*Matthew 6:33 (KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be ADDED UNTO YOU.
As I mediated upon that thought and prayed in the spirit I heard the words for the title of this message: "Eyes Off Self and On the Savior"! Every step of our lives is affected by whether we choose the path of SELF or the path of our SAVIOR. If our hearts belong to Jesus, then everywhere we go and everything we do should be affected by His leadership in our lives. Scripture teaches us that Abraham became strong in faith. It didn’t say Abraham became strong in faith by taking all the glory for himself. It says Abraham became strong in faith giving glory to God (Romans 4:20). The stronger he became in faith, the less he thought of himself, and the more he thought of God.
Let's pull from both the Old and New Testament for our text:
*TEXT: Proverbs 3:7 (KJV) Be not wise in THINE OWN EYES: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
*Philippians 3:17-21 (KJV) Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, WHO MIND EARTHLY THINGS.) 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also WE LOOK FOR THE SAVIOR, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
At this point in our lives the Apostle Paul taught us by the Holy Spirit we know in part (1 Corinthians 13:9)! We must make the choice moment by moment to not go by our soul being led by our flesh but rather seek the Savior by His Spirit in our spirit! Anything else will lead us into evil and make us enemies of His Cross! But if WE LOOK TO THE SAVIOR we have our conversation - our citizenship from Heaven and His promised of subduing all things to Himself!
*Read Colossians 3:1-3 (KJV) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 SET YOUR AFFECTION (TO EXERCISE THE MIND) on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Q. IS YOUR DAY FULL OF LIFE AND PEACE?
*Read Romans 8:5-6 (KJV) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
If you're tired in the battle maybe, it's time to make sure you're living by the Savior - by the Word! The fruit of EVERY SITUATION WILL DETERMINE WHERE YOUR MIND IS AT THAT MOMENT! Remember the teachings of Jesus to His disciples:
*Read Matthew 16:24-26 (KJV) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
